Acid dyes are anionic, water-soluble dyes that are applied to fibers from an acidic bath. They are used to dye natural proteins like wool and silk, synthetic polyamides like nylon, and to a lesser extent acrylics and blends of these fibers. 
Acid dyes are thought to fix to fibers by hydrogen bonding, Van der Waals forces, and ionic bonding. They produce bright, usually fast shades in a wide range of colors.

Product Details:

Acid Black 1 (Acid Black 10B) is a black dye used in the textile industry for dyeing and printing. It can also be used for coloring paper, anodized aluminum, soap, wood, biology, leather, medicine, and cosmetics. Acid dyes are applied to fibers from a dyebath in acidic or neutral conditions. Typically, the quantities of acid dye used range from 0.25g to 2.0g for each 100g of dry material. The dye is in powder form and is mixed to a paste first in a small amount of warm water or methylated spirit, then dissolved thoroughly in boiling water.
